RAKU

I burn the glazed goods in a simple gas oven. When the glaze reaches its melting point, I lift the goods
and reduce it in sawdust. The characteristic of Raku is the blackness and the crackings. I get the black
on the surfaces that are unglaced and the cracking occurs when the goods are lifted out from the oven
at about 900ºC. The glaze bursts and soot from the burned sawdust seals the glaze cracks.
